Privacy Policy

Your reading life stays on your device. Here is what InkHour collects, what it does not collect, and the choices you have.

Analytics sections describe the upcoming analytics-enabled InkHour build. Earlier versions may not include these services.

Your on-device record

InkHour is made by Nima Yahyaabady. No InkHour account is required. Your optional name, reading notes, book titles and authors, cover choices, reading history, goals and schedules are stored locally. We do not operate a cloud backup of your reading record.

Apple Screen Time applies app blocking on your device. InkHour does not upload app selection tokens or information about which other apps you use. Summary reading activity may be sent as described under Analytics.

Optional book search and covers

When you choose Search Open Library, your search terms are sent to Open Library. Choosing a book with a cover loads an image from its cover service using a cover identifier. These requests reveal your IP address and ordinary request information to that service.

Downloaded covers are cached on your device. Search is optional. You can enter a title yourself, use a decorative cover, or remove a cover while keeping the book’s details. Open Library’s privacy policy applies to requests to its services.

Sharing

Nothing is shared automatically. InkHour can export images of your reading activity through Apple’s share sheet to a destination you choose. Your name and book details are excluded by default. You can explicitly include them before sharing. Paper, Ink and transparent image exports follow the same rules. The destination’s privacy policy applies to what you share there.

Notifications

With your permission, InkHour schedules local notifications for reading sittings and occasional membership renewal reminders. These are scheduled on your device, rather than delivered by a developer-operated push server.

Purchases

Apple handles payments through StoreKit. RevenueCat processes purchase records and subscription status, including product and transaction identifiers, currency, price, trial, expiry and renewal information. RevenueCat forwards subscription lifecycle events to PostHog so we can understand conversion and churn. Neither InkHour, RevenueCat nor PostHog receives your payment card details from these purchases.

Purchase processing and reporting continue when optional usage analytics is disabled. RevenueCat’s privacy information explains its handling of this data.

Optional usage analytics

InkHour uses PostHog’s US Cloud to understand onboarding, permission results, paywall use, session completion and bypasses, goal amounts, streak length, feature use, book search success and share sheet results. Events include timestamps, app version and basic device information.

A randomly generated installation ID connects app activity with RevenueCat subscription events. It is not your name, email, advertising identifier or Apple Account. This makes the data pseudonymous, rather than fully anonymous.

We do not send your name, notes, book titles, authors, search text, cover images, selected apps or Screen Time usage to analytics. Session replay, screen recordings, automatic text capture, advertising tracking and IP-based location enrichment are disabled. Network services necessarily receive your IP address when requests arrive. See PostHog’s privacy information.

Your choices and deletion

Turn off Usage analytics in InkHour Settings to stop new app usage events and clear unsent app events. This does not erase data already received or stop the purchase reporting described above.

Deleting InkHour removes its local record, but does not erase purchase records or analytics already received. Local data may be included in backups managed by your device or Apple. We do not provide a developer-operated backup or recovery service. Delete exported images separately from the apps or services where you shared them.

Contact nima.yahya2@gmail.com to ask about your data or request deletion of service-held data. Because there is no InkHour account and analytics uses a random identifier, we may need help identifying the relevant records. We retain service-held data for operating the app, understanding its performance and meeting legal obligations, and remove it when it is no longer needed for those purposes.

This website

inkhour.xyz is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes normal web requests, including IP addresses and request information, to deliver and protect the site. This website does not use advertising cookies, a session replay tool or a product analytics SDK.

Download links can include App Store campaign identifiers. Apple uses these to provide aggregated campaign reporting. There is no personal identifier added by InkHour to those links. Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy describe their practices.
