Your reading routine

How do I start?

Choose a daily goal and a reading mode in Schedule. At a set time gives you daily reading windows. When I’m ready lets you start from Today. Give InkHour Screen Time permission and choose which essential apps to keep available.

What earns a filled blot?

Complete enough sittings to hit or pass your daily goal. The completed minutes add together. You earn one filled blot for that day. Reading beyond your goal still adds to your total.

What happens if I change my goal?

Once that day’s reading has started, today’s target stays the same and a new daily goal starts tomorrow. Previous days keep the goal that applied to them.

Can I leave a sitting early?

Yes. Hold the bypass control for five seconds. An early ending does not credit the sitting. In When I’m ready mode you can start a fresh sitting when you want to return.

What does an outlined blot mean?

A streak save kept your streak alive for a missed day. It is different from the filled blot earned by reaching your reading goal. Your Record shows saves and your earned reading days separately.

Why aren’t apps being blocked?

Check Screen Time permission in iPhone Settings and confirm that the apps you want blocked are not on your allowed list. Open InkHour to refresh your schedule. If the issue continues, send us your iOS version, InkHour version and what happened.

Books and sharing

How is my book chosen?

Choose a current book on Shelf. Scheduled sittings use that book. You can switch books whenever you like, including when starting a voluntary sitting.

Can I remove just the cover?

Yes. Tap the cover to open the book picker. Remove cover keeps the title and book details. Remove book clears the book selection. Search Open Library is optional and its cover quality depends on the source image.

How do transparent stories work?

Choose Paper or Ink in Share, then turn Transparent on. InkHour exports a PNG with a clear background. Use it as a sticker or overlay on your own photo in an app that supports transparent images. Some destinations flatten transparency or import images differently.

Is anything shared automatically?

No. You choose the destination in Apple’s share sheet. Name and book details are off by default and can be included if you want them.

Membership and billing

How do I cancel?

Open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and InkHour. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal or the end of a free trial. Deleting the app does not cancel. See Apple’s cancellation guide.

My trial or subscription ended

Your existing reading record remains available. Start new reading sittings by renewing your membership. InkHour sends an expiry reminder and then occasional weekly renewal reminders instead of daily session reminders.

I paid but access is missing

Open InkHour Settings and use Restore purchases. Make sure you are using the same Apple Account that made the purchase and have an internet connection. If restoration fails, email us the app version and the error shown. Do not send your card details or Apple Account password.

Can I get a refund?

App Store billing and refund requests are handled by Apple. Request a refund here. Contact us if there is a problem with the app. Applicable consumer rights still apply.

Privacy and your record

Turn Usage analytics off in InkHour Settings to stop optional app usage events. Purchase processing and reporting continue. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

Your reading record is kept on your device. InkHour does not provide a developer-operated cloud backup. Restore purchases restores membership access, not a deleted reading history.
